School Boundaries for Ashburn Virginia

This is a great new widget from education.com. You can use it to view any school boundary in the US. I have set the default on the map to Ashburn but you can change it to any location you want. I will be adding a page to the menu that will allow you to get to this widget quickly from the home page. This will help out tremendously in Loudoun County because of all the new schools and boundary changes.

Check it out….Virginia is ranked #1 by CNBC in the Rankings of States for Business. It beat out last year’s #1, Texas to reclaim the top spot. Here are the top five states:

There was a study done by George Mason University that ranks the level of freedom that each states gives its residents. Virginia ranked 9th and this is what the report said about us:

9. Virginia
> Fiscal freedom: 0.124 (13th highest)
> Regulatory freedom: 0.124 (4th highest)
> Personal freedom: 0.026 (22nd highest)
> Net Migration (2000-2009): +2.4%

Virginia is, according to the George Mason study, the state with the most freedom in the southern U.S. Like most Southern states, most of this liberty comes in the form of economic and regulatory freedom, rather than personal freedom. Virginia has relatively low taxes, and low state government spending. It does, however, have one of the highest liquor tax rates in the country, which limits residents “freedom” to purchase it. In terms of personal freedom, the state does well in some areas, including having a low rate of arrest for victimless crimes. On the other hand, the state has one of the longest mandatory terms for school attendance – 13 years, which includes Kindergarten.

Purcellville Volunteer Fire Department Golf Event

On Monday I was fortunate enough to play in the Purcellville Volunteer Fire Department Golf Event. The rain held off and the weather was great. And it was for a great cause. A former co-worker of mine, Travis Boaz, is a volunteer with the department. These people give their time and expertise to helping others and they should be commended.

My team shot a 66 in the scramble and we had a great time. It was held at the Loudoun Golf and Country Club. A very nice course if you get a chance to play on it.

Next up on the list of charity golf events is the Muse Memorial Golf Event on June 17th. This one is very special for the Complete Home team of agents especially Don Muse, agent extrordinaire.
